Ride an elephant. That's what I want to do. What do you want to do?

A Polaroid Project is a collaborative project between Nicole Kenney, KS Rives, and the world. They take a polaroid photo of the person and get them to finish the sentence 'before I die I want to..' and so far they've got albums from New York, Chicago, LA, India, and heaps more. Mostly America though.

Here are some of my favourites:

I haven't even read half of all these yet.. a lot are funny, most are really sad and touching. Almost all of the kids from India said they'd like to study before they die, and that's just such a beautiful thing to wish for. I wish every kid had the opportunity to learn. Also, make sure to look at the Hospice > Patients section. That killed me :( Especially the photo of the frail old man.. I couldn't bear to post it on here, it's so heart breaking.

I just saw Where the Wild Things Are and I realised something. I am exactly like Max. Not in the sense that he's playful and interesting and creates his own fun, but that he's weird and people can't accept or like him, even down to the part where he makes weird noises to himself. That is exactly me. While I was watching it I was feeling happy because he starts off all playful, and even though people don't like him and he's always by himself, he's still content, and I was thinking "I know how you feel man" but then it turned awful and all the monsters hated him because his 'fun' had turned mean and hurtful and no one wanted to know him anymore.

And by the end of the movie I felt so low and horrible, not only with how the movie made me feel but also with myself. I mean, Max ran away to this alternate world and he escaped his real life misery, if only for a little bit. Then I realised that I can never do that and I'm stuck in this shit of a life where people don't want me and I spend all my time alone or with people who won't remember me in 5 years time, and I waste my time on these people. Not only my time but my emotions and my money and my trust, all on people who don't seem to turely care about me. I keep telling myself not to let myself fall back into the pattern of trusting people to do things and be places but I do and I end up back here all by myself and feeling as shit as I do now.

So in conclusion, Where The Wild Things Are is a FANTASTIC movie. Spike Jonze is a truely amazing director with a beautiful visual aesthetic, Karen O and Carter Burwell make an amazingly wonderful team and soundtrack, and Paul Dano makes a very heartfelt and wonderful Alex. But it made me feel like utter fuck because it hit TOO close to home. Maybe if I watch it in a few weeks, when I'm down in Tasmania, I'll feel a lot better. But right now I feel horribly isolated, and hating everyone and everything.

And don't tell me I have a good life, because you can't compare someone's physical daily life to their emotional life.

My day off.

Today was my day off and not wanting to waste a whole day, I went op shopping with my lovely friends Laura and Angus. After we picked Angus up we went to the op shop down the road from his house. I bought a pink vase and a cute pair of shoes, and Laura bought Angus a children's Batman mask and cape combo for $2, and I'll get a photo of it soon and stick it on here. Purely because it's the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while. Before we properly set off though we had to go into town so I could withdraw money, and we bumped into Arruna and Karl from The Medics. Karl tried our bubble tea and seemed intrigued and possibly afraid of the beverage, and Arruna said "bye Karl" and joined us on our op shop crawl. Angus directed us to a place I'd never heard of, called..

and is was the most magical and amazing and lovely and brilliant op shop I've ever been to in my entire existence. I found this awesome retro tv from the 50's or 60's and apparently it still works and I had to have it.. it was only $20, c'mon! I also bought two doilies and a cat teapot. It's possibly the most kitsch thing I own.

Angus found a tin man costume

We went to Kaotica, then to Night Owl to get slushies coz MAN it was so freakin' hot today, like you wouldn't believe. At the Earlville Lifeline Laura and I tried on these fantastic Asian wedding dresses.

Mine didn't zip up though coz it was tiny, so I was walking around the shop like a proper Asian hooker with my bra strap hanging out. We were hot.

After we picked up Laura's sister Olivia from school and dropping her home we went to Crackerbox Palace. Laura found this hideous but strangely amazing cowboy-like floral shirt that she vowed to go back and buy when she got paid, and I really hope she does coz she's a big babe when she wears it.

Eventually it came past 4 o'clock and Angus realised he had to go home, so after dropping Arruna off at a red light on Lake Street, and running over Angus's foot when we dropped him off at his house, I finally got home.. Only to realise that I'd left my tv in Laura's boot :(

She's stopping by later to drop it off to me, so I'll set how that baby runs. Oh yeah, it was a pretty excellent day.

Christmas Party

A couple of nights ago was my work's Christmas Party and we had to buy a $3 present for the Secret Santa.. mine cost $4, but mother bear's present only cost $1.88 so I think her lack-of-present (it was a Kinder surprise) makes up for my over spending. I think it was well worth it though:

Adrian ended up getting it and he said he was going to use the eyes in one of his sock monster creations he's been working on. I must get my hands on one.. Anyway, he said he was going to sell them at MOFO, so if you live in Cairns you should go check them out (when they're actually in there, of course.. I'll let you know).

So I was super jealous, and I kind of want a pair of google glasses for myself. If you can't think of something to get me for Christmas, I would very much appreciate a $4 pair of google eyes.

About making my resin jewellery. Here's my first real good proper one I made:

Selling for $20 (resin is pricey!) and you can have whatever design you want on it.. I'm going to start making default ones with berries and bluebirds on them. Once I get a decent amount of these made, I'm going to tag along with my nan to her market stalls in Smithfield, Mareeba, Yungaburra, etc. and try to sell them at the markets :)

I'm also going to draw up a book of designs people can choose from, just like when you go to get your face painted and they have that folder full of photos.. it'll be like that :)

It's a free Australian online magazine for kids, but it's just so lovely and amazing and wonderful, I can't get over it. It's like frankie for children.. but for very sophisticated and artistic children.. It should be in print, is what I'm saying. Not only do they have cute pages about artists:

too many times, people have screwed me over. for a very large majority of my teenage life I've been pulled along by promises that were made to be broken and friendships as fake as glue on nails. More than once I've felt like this, wanting to shut myself away in my house and wait for people to come to me, but people don't and I'm sick of hating myself all the time. I make plans and they either fall through or I get stood up. I make friends and they let me down time after time. I'm fucking sick to death of feeling so worthless.

From now on, I'm doing life solo. People don't seem to want me, and I'm seeming to want people less and less. I'm finding it harder to warm to people as I'm constantly waiting for the moment they let me down.

I enjoy seeing movies by myself because I don't get distracted. I enjoy shopping by myself because it gives me time to think things over. I enjoy catching buses by myself because I can read. I've adapted to doing things by myself due to all these let downs, so either I'll gain enough confidence to be an independent person, or I'll become a massive recluse and live out the rest of my Cairns life in my flat, alone.

And if the latter was to happen, then I'd have no one to blame but all you people who constantly make me feel completely worthless. You've turned me bitter, and like I said to Laura today, the ratio between the number of people I like and the number of people I dislike is staggeringly overwhelming.

I hope I meet some nice, genuine people soon.

Time of Your Life

Is possibly the most cliche graduation song ever, and it was voted as ours. Because I graduate tomorrow, along with every other grade 12 student in Australia.. well most. And the thought isn't just emotional, but terrifying. I always thought I wouldn't cry when the time came for us to leave because I only have one close friend in my whole year grade, but I could barely keep a straight face today when we were practising singing our senior songs. Everyone around me was crying and coming up for hugs with tear streaked faces and it was horrible to force yourself to keep the tears in. I know they'll come tomorrow, but I don't care as much coz at least I won't look like such a fool. So long as I remember to not wear so much eye make-up. Even now as I'm sitting here, I can feel my insides tingle with excitement at the thought of cutting up my uniform and going into school as a student for the last time tomorrow, then dressing up fancy and going to grad that night. Too bad they're forcing us to dance. What happened to an individual's right to not participate? Friggin' dictator Mr. Wagner. So I've moved the majority of my files from my school computer to my home one, got half my shirt signed (I'll get the rest tomorrow) and I've signed multiple people's shirts myself, and I still feel like I'll be going back to school next year as a high school student. I don't think that part has sunk in yet. It's not that I've finished my education, coz I've still got uni, its just that I won't have to put up with petty bitching and exclusion and teachers that talk down to you and people that ruin your day. I honest to god hated high school. People say it as the best time of their lives but without a group of friends then it's nothing. I hated the groups at my high school. I don't hate the people as individuals (at least, not all of them) but I hate the whole 'grouping' thing, and being defined by what group you're with. Kids, high school is fucking cruddy and you'll hate yourself and how you used to be when you look back at the years you've spent there if you conform to a group you don't wholly like. I'm glad to leave, but I know it'll be tough now, what with working to get money to support myself through university. Then university itself. Leaving this town, making new friends.. Which will be exceedingly difficult seeing as I seem to have been self-condemmed to be a massive introvert.

DREAD starring Jackson Rathbone.

No release date has been announced yet for Australia, but it'll be out at the end of January next year in America so I guess it'll be available for download around then as well. It'll be shown at a lot of film festivals, including America's 'After Dark Horrorfest'. Why doesn't Cairns ever get anything cool like that?

100 Monkeys has to be one of the best experimental bands I've ever heard, and I absolutely love them. I know of them purely because Jackson Rathbone is the frontman, but I appreciate their music so so much, I wish they'd come to Australia to play a few shows. Plus, they're such crazy guys! Their new film clip for their song 'Ugly Girl' is FUNTASTIC! I've watched it so many times and still love it to death.

reminds me of a cross between that Little Britain (I hate Little Britain, but this is just here for the reference's sake) guy and Jaime off Summer Heights High. Brilliant actor though, I must say :D

JCU Creative Arts Day.

Wasn't as art related as I thought. We were forced to do a Performing Arts exercise as well.. I dropped out of Drama for a reason. Well two reasons. I can't act, and I hate trying to act. Made me angry. But we did this cool photography exercise outside where one person wore a blindfold and the other person had to steer them away from dangers as they walked blindly, while taking photos at the same time. It was supposed to heighten your sense of hearing and touch, which I thought was a really good approach to changing your perspective of taking photos. After we did that, we got into teams of four. Three people were blindfolded and held onto a thin piece of cotton to stay together, and the aim was to not let the cotton break. The fourth person steered the other three and took photos. Some of them turned out really lovely and warm:

Heath Ledger's last film! Honestly, that was the driving factor for me, to go see that film in the cinema. I read a review in the Weekender and it said that while it was Ledger's last film, people wouldn't end up sticking around to see the end of it coz it was so boring. WRONG! I admit, there was a bit of a lull in the middle of it, but the ending was really great, as was the Imaginarium and whole idea of the movie.

Plus, Lily Cole made such a beautiful gypsy girl, with her huge eyes and ginger hair.

But yes, it really is an excellent film. I'd go see it again, but purely for this guy:

Hallowmalloween!

HALLOWEEN! we decided to celebrate it a day early, up in Atherton. Who wouldn't?

So, I dress up as Jesus, complete with toga, beard and cross necklace, BUT I didn't get any photos of it before I took it off, which I'm really disappointed about.. but sure enough I'll dress up as him again soon, so I'll be sure to take a photo then.

I finished work at 5.30 and Laura picked me up. James decided, spur of the moment, that he wanted to come too so we picked him up as well. On the way out to Smithfield, there was a MASSIVE line up of cars and traffic was moving as slow as a motherbitch (N)!

When we FINALLY arrived at about 8ish, we found everyone was setting up for a huge game of Kings. Not such a good idea in hindsight, but it got everyone real silly, real quickly.

Finishing high school is a whole lot more work than slack time. Instead of feeling great about going out on weekends, I'm stuck stressing about all the time I'm wasting when I could be doing something productive, and with my exhibition to be held in MARCH next year, doomsday is a-loomin'. I really need to start thinking of ideas and pumping out some art. Frick!

Mrs. Williams took me into Crate59 (local artspace owned by Liz Dunn) today so we could connect with Kristen Tennyson, who'll become sort of my mentor artist when I finish school. She said she'd be happy to check out my work and ideas as I progress through my body of work, and for that I am so so damn thankful! She's an amazing artist; I'd own every single piece of her art if I could, and I still need to save up to by one of her tote bags..

But yeah, the pieces she's working on now are just mind blowing. Casting lace into resin skulls! I wish I could think of something that awesome. But what she's making looks a helluva lot like my necklaces I've been making with my El Día de los Muertos skulls and that makes me all depressed coz everyone knows just how much her work influences me, and before today I hadn't seen or known of what she was working on, but my necklace and her new pieces just look so identical, everyone is going to think I've been ripping her style! Gah! Besides that, I've very excited to be able to have her there to guide me.

Also! Recieved my cheque from the Peninsula Art Educators today, total of $300! It came in a little envelope full of animal sequins and a balloon, so I guess it's party time? HURRAH!

I need to think of a theme of my exhibition, I need to think of a NAME for my exhibition, I need to start thinking of ideas, I need to start taking photos.. I need to contact Naomi from work about her girl guides.. I need to make my Jesus costume for Halloween! That's right, I'll be rockin' it Old Testament!

Kayla lent me her fisheye lens for the weekend, so I'll take loads of photos and this page will be full of niceness again. I need to read my frankie magazine I bought yesterday, so I can get all inspired.

I need to clean my house. I need to create a budget. I need to organise formal. I need to do my schoolwork.

I honestly think that different names create a certain type of person. see, all the Joshes I know are self-consumed morons, all the Jakes I know are really nice guys, and all the Lukes I know are idiotic show offs, driven for danger. eg: my brother. came off his bike today and ploughed face first into the ground. so, off to the ER he went!

Mother Mary, boys need to spend a little less time hurting themselves and a little more time doing all the chores I hate doing. then, the world would be a peaceful place, and our towels will remain free of bloodstains.

he's totally A-OK though, perfecto. I mean, apart from his face. they took x-rays and he hasn't damaged anything, apart from his dignity. he'll probably get more time off school, which he'll be pleased about.

Today, I discovered the magic of Cash Converters. They have a massive stack of dvds, and most of them are only $5! I'm well reputed for buying things for cheap, but we all live in an economically unstable world, and I'm just doing what I can to get by. That includes buying Blades of Glory for, a glorious, $5!

Friday afternoon, my weekend was off to a pretty fantastic start! Along with my family and my lovely boyfriend Josh, I went to the opening of the Energy Art Exhibition at the Tanks Arts Center, where I had two of my photos on display.

I went there hoping to get into Creative Generations for Visual Art, but I ended up getting 3 awards; the Ergon Energy Encouragement Award, the Peninsula Arts Encouragement Award and.. The Curators Award! Only ONE person wins the Curators Award and that means that next year I get to hold my own exhibition at The Tanks, about whatever I want, and I get $300 to spend on materials and such. I prefer that award so so much more! My mother cried when they announced my name, and my dad was off eating the free food so he missed the whole thing. Typical of my family, right? Anyway, this photographer lad wanted a tonne of photos of me and my artwork, and then some photos with our political member for our area Steve Wettenhall, who was wearing a tux! Spiffy! Oh yeah, and Kayla re-dressed-up as the dinosaur from the photos :D

Afterwards we bought Chinese food to celebrate, and went home to watch Scrubs, so the night was just unbelievably amazing. I could not have been any better than it was, and I'm so thankful for every single person who has supported and encouraged me. I personally don't think my work is too good, but thankyou for all my friends who see potential in me, I love you more than anything.

On Saturday morning I took a Trip to Taterine! Trip to Taterine is this brilliant installation piece created by Liz Dunn and Kylie Burke, inspired by the mind of one of their mentally handicapped students Mitchell Cole, who dreamed up this entire alternate world called Taterine.

They decked out a whole room in the Cairns Regional Gallery with this massive cardboard cave and crazy hallucinogenic lights.

You could write on the walls with chalk, so I draw a sweetfaced unicorn.

Inside the cave they projected this continuous film of Mitchell dressed as characters out of Taterine, dancing and doing some groovy little moves.

After the artist's talks ended, I met up with my lovely friend Arruna, who wanted to film me wearing a Rubix Cube he had made, on my head, and stand around places in town. It was so hot to wear! but also very cool, I really can't wait to see the film when it's done!

Laura wanted to go out that night, so we went to The Medics gig at the Smithfield YMCA. After various thumb wars, crayon fights and group singings of the Power Rangers, Transformers and Pokemon theme songs, we left. Here's some photos that I can't be bothered explaining:

Last night was the opening of the exhibition 'All Today's Parties' at Crate59! We were given around 4 days to develop an idea and create an artwork based on the thoughts of what we do today for fun and our social fabric, trends, etc. We were asked questions like "what consumes you?" and "what is 'cool'?". I had a piece exhibited and it was so fulfilling to watch people smile and tell me they like my art, and that they agree with my artist's statement. Here's my response to the question, what consumes you?

So seeing as I haven't written a lazyman blog in a while, I thought I would. I feel like rambling and saving it forever to the abyss of this interweb. Whoops, pretty sure I just broke the table..

One of my best friends got her P's about two weeks ago. During that first week, someone slams into the back of her car and knocks off her bumper. Not only did I used to work for the girl's mum and go to primary school with her, a girl I work with goes to uni with her. It's a small world. Anyway, we had to shove the bumper back on so we kicked it into place and shot to Nightowl. I told my friend to buy duct tape, but she bought brown sticky tape instead coz "it was cheaper." yeah, coz it's flimsy and crap. Anyway, I think it gives her car character. For now :)

Usually, when I go to the local music gigs where my boyfriend's bands play, I like to take a lot of photos with friends. Not last weekend. This is the only photo I got:

So last Friday night it was mumma bear's birthday and we went out to dinner the Greek restaurant in town, Adelfia. The food was BRILLIANT, especially their lamb, and afterwards we got to smash the plates!

Went camera shopping with my friend on Thursday night. Don't you love how smart you feel when you point out a shop's spelling mistakes? Yessir, I'm onto you JB HIFI.

Also, I like the fact that McDonald's named a burger after one of my friends. Not only can I order a Prime Angus, I can also order a Mighty Angus. How you like them apples?

REMEMBERING TO WRITE ON HERE! SORRY!

so my last real post was during.. CGen? yeah. so CGen and Brisbane was FANTASTIC! I really should have written up up as soon as I got home so it was fresh in my mind.. our awards ceremony was on the last day of our trip and my beautiful friend Zoe came! it was great, I didn't realize how much I'd missed her, so we got a sweet Polaroid of us together, being gangster and all:

going home was sad :( and I didn't even get to have another look at GOMA. stupid Tim Rogers distracting me!

anyway, I've been back home for around 3 weeks and so much stuff has happened since then!

I had a workshop on Sunday as part of the REACH art program, and the piece we created that day will be exhibitioned in the local indie hip art gallery in town, Crate59! it's at 7pm this Friday and local indie band The Medics are playing so all you local kids should come down and check out some sweet art created by other local teenragers.

THEN next Friday night is the opening of the Energy Art Exhibiton at the Tanks Art Center in Edge Hill. not sure what time it starts but my photos of Kayla in the dinosaur suit will be there so come along and make me feel loved :D

that's all I can really think/be bothered writing right now. plus, my neighbor has been making Chewbacca noises for the past 20 minutes and I can't concentrate on what I'm actually writing.

Day Five!

TODAY, I MET TIM ROGERS.

yep, that's right. we were just walking through the GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art) gift shop today and I saw this guy looking at books in the corner, and I asked Liv "hoii, is that Tim Rogers" and her reply was "hmm no.. ye-no it's not.. OH MY GOD YES IT IS" so after I hyperventilated a bit, I went over and talked to him and he is seriously such a cool 'laxed guy, and we talked about film and how everyone is using all this fantastic new technology to re-create the look of old technology and how ironic that is, and I got an autograph and a photo, which I'll post on here once I get home and upload all my other photos. seriously, it made my year meeting him.

after that we went and watched another BIFF (Brisbane International Film Festival) film, this one was a German doco called Pool of Princesses and honestly.. I like docos with more of a storyline and a meaning.. Last night's movie Unmade Beds was AMAZING! seriously, it's in my top 5 I'd say. We saw that at The Regent cinema in town, and that place looked like a freaking cathedral inside! yeah, I took photos.

today we talked to some game developers from SEGA and this guy who creates mythical creatures for films, which was like a history lesson as well but I am really NOT good at drawing so I got a little bored after a while..

We're all trying to finish our vlogs again right now, hectic crazy madness! I really hope we get it done but the capturing of the footage is taking so long, it's ridiculous and I can't edit! Dinner is in 25 minutes. I hope we get this finished by tomorrow!

whoa whoa whoa, this whole experience has been FULL ON! yesterday we went back to the studio at Griffith to finish filming the music video for Tyrone's new song 'Tight Black Dress' with Grant Marshal. We split into two groups though, and I went in the group that was going to the stop motion animating studio upstairs. We hung out with this lad called Jason. He worked on both Wallace and Gromit 'Attack of the Were-Rabbit' and 'Mary and Max' as an extra animator, and just being in his presence was amazing. He knew so much about all his projects and all the techniques that make stop motion and claymation what it is, and even though I don't want to pursue it as a career, it has definantly been added to my hobby list. Me and this nice girl called Emma worked on making a girl doll, aka the girl from the music video. It was fun, even though she had massive Michel Gondry-like hands, and even though the plasticine made our hands smell feral.

Then after lunch we went back down to the band shoot, and as soon as I walked in the door I had a prop shoved into my hands and was told to walk through while the band was playing, thus I COULD MIGHT MAYBE might be in the music video. WEIRD but it was fun. Even under massive pressure Grant is still a real great, friendly and nice guy, and I really hope I turn out like that when I'm working as crazy and as full on as he is, though I doubt I will. I have vee low patience levels, and a quick temper.

OFF THE CHANNEL NINE! it was about half an hour out of town, high up on the hill. We walked through and got ot see this lad editing a segment of The Shak, then we went downstairs and saw the actual set, THEN we got to meet the nerd character off the show, Curio. He's a nerd in RL as well. As we were walking back to the bus, we walked past the make-up room and we saw this old guy getting his face done up, and realized it was Wally Lewis off The Footy Show! Getting his make-up done! There goes all the manly-ness and brute of The Footy Show..

That night we went to another forum, but this time with gaming and mobile game stylus, and this crazy lad called Justin Brow was there. He reminded me a lot of my art teacher, not so much in appearances (he had dreadlocks and was tanned, my teacher is pale-ish with black brown short hair), but more in the way they talk and explain things with their hands. It kept me awake, seeing as I usually fall asleep when I get too bored; it's my reflex reaction to boredom.

We got the night off editing, so we got back to our rooms at about 10ish, so I charged my ipod, checked out the music that was already on the Mac laptop, and got a call from Mrs. Williams (my art teacher). She wished us luck, and said she was proud of us, and all that teacher-ish stuff. Still, it was lovely to hear from her.

TODAY we went back to Griffith and went up to the editing rooms to watch Grant and Jane edit the video from the past two days, and give us tips, MASSIVELY APPRECIATED! We got to edit our vlogs from the past two days, and that's what we're back at the hotel doing right now. Sitting in the William Jolly room, drinking V, watching people eat food, edit their footage and laze about.

But very soon we'll be getting ready to go to the film screening of Unmade Beds, which I'm so psyched for! Seriously guys, Google it, Youtube it, IMDB it, if it has a page.. it just looks good and I'm heaps excited, PLUS we get to have dinner at the Italian place again tonight.

So far this week has been so hectic and stressful, but it has been the most amazing few days of my teenage life. Getting a taste of the industry, the people, the studios, the editing programs, the whole damn shebang, and even though I'm basically dead right now, I wish this week could last a lot longer than, well.. a week.

ALSO, UPDATE: We have a name for our vlog group: Accidental Awesomeness.

Day two of this amazing trip! yesterday was far too packed to be able to take 5 to get on here, but the vlog we're uploading right now is taking fricken forever to upload so, stealthily, I'm typing out this. yes, I've already checked out my Myspace.

yesterday we arrived and settled into the hotel, rooming with Tasia. after that we, hmm, did something.. walked to the river to film some of our day one vlog, and we were so starved of creative ingenuity it wasn't even funny, it was sad. like when a kid is running and falls over, you WANT to laugh and you know you shouldn't. that's what our video was like. but we had dinner at this cute little Italian restaurant slash pub, and the pizza was heaps good.

editing our blog took longer than I thought and we got back to our rooms at around 11ish, got back, turned on tv and JAPANESE VERSION OF GODZILLA with vee bad Asian voiceover dubbing was on. wonderful costumes, it was purely glorious.

wake up time was 7, which is actually an hour later than when I usually have to get up. peanut butter SHOWER TIME, then breakfast. walk walk walk to this studio at Griffith University to.. wait.. record a music video for Tyrone Noonan from George, for his new song 'Tight Black Dress'. that experience was absolutely mind-blowing. I'm more unsure than ever as to what I want to pursue, being involved with every aspect is just TOO TEMPTING! I spent a majority of the time sitting around, filming some vlog material and shining a torch on the background, but simply watching everyone do their thang was great. I could DEFINANTLY get used to days like that.. only.. I'd be doing my thing, and not just sitting around like dust in the corner. my task this week is to be a sponge, absorbing all the info I can, and I'm writing all the little tips and tricks I hear on scraps of paper I find littering my bag. I plan to compile my own little bible out of them all.

walked to the post-production company Cutting Edge and had a peeksie around, saw all the different offices and departments and got to feel a little of what post-production is about.

got back to the hotel, ate food, left.

got to the forum talk at Griffith with 4 of some industry pros, and they told us about what they've done and achieved, told us what to expect of the industry and how to 'make it'. it's going to be mission impossible, but it's good to hear about all this BEFORE I invest my whole life in achieving a good OP for uni. coz I'm definantly not getting a good OP. I hate math.

the talk was great! and I won a tee shirt which is pretty sweet. I lack clothes, so donations are great for me. I wish we could have spoken to them a little longer but alas, monsuir bus man was waiting.

so now, we're sitting in the 'William Jolly' conference room, surrounded by Mac laptops, cords, PD170 cameras and sweet kids, and we're all attempting to upload yesterday's vlogs to the net, and I will post a link to our vlog page once I'm back home, or once the upload system starts working.

"Congratulations Kelly! After a lot of competition and difficult decisions by the whole visual arts department, we are pleased to announce that your work "Dino 1" and "Dino2" has been submitted as one of only 4 entries allowed by a school in the 2009 Creative Generations Awards.

The Awards draw over 600 entries from across the state each year and your work will be viewed by a panel of teachers in the next week or so to determine if it will be shortlisted through to the final competition and eventually selected to be part of the exhibition of about 40 works to be part of the State Wide Exhibition that exhibits in GoMa (Gallery of Modern Art) in Brisbane. If your work should be selected as part of the State Wide exhibition (which we at Trinity Bay will have our fingers crossed for!) you will get the opportunity to travel down to Brisbane in September holidays for a full week of workshops with some of Queensland's top artists on site at the Queensland College of Art (Griffith University) and QUT. You will also be presented with your award by the Minister for Education at a ceremony to celebrate your success. Your work will tour around the state throughout 2010.

We wish you all the very best luck in continuing in the competition."

I'm already heading down to Brisbane next Sunday for the week long Creative Generation for Film and New Media workshop, and I'm so excited, I can't even find words good enough to describe my emotions :'D I'll be taking heaps of photos, that's for sure.

I just watched a wonderful documentary, titled 'Trouble in Amish Paradise', and I truly think I'm going to wake up tomorrow with a changed perspective on how I'm living my life. I can't even begin to explain why this interested me, seeing as I'm not Christian, nor am I even close to being religious. But I am highly spiritual, and I am unhappy with how I look at life, and the simple life structure of the Amish (well, of Ephraim and Amanda) has made me want to look deeper into my existence, and to simplify things. They lived without major appliances and connections to the outside world, and they worked back-breakingly hard everyday to run their farm, yet they were very positive and loving and very happy people. Most say it's their faith in God and Jesus, but seeing as I don't have that sort of faith in me, I'm going to see if I can find faith in another form. When the world is so bleak and horrid and messed up from so many humans just fucking with everything, I'd like to be able to have something to rest my head against and have faith in. I'm not turning religious, but I am searching for something.

Today is the start of my soy diet! I'm not going to be consuming any dairy, seeing as I'll be replacing it with soy alternatives. I've already tried soy yogurt (which actually isn't as bad as you'd think) and I pretty much grew up on soy milk, so it's not going to be too hard. I'm going to include a lot of lentils and beans into my meals, as well as a lot of green vegetables and rye bread.

I'm going out to dinner tonight, to the coffee-shop-during-the-day-Japanese-restaurant-at-night place called Yama :) it's in Edge Hill at, coincidentally, The Edge. I really hope they make some good sashimi! Plus, I get to wear my new dress, which is nice.

I woke up at the unusually late time of 10:45am precisely, which is really odd seeing as my body clock is usually set to 7am. Anyway, mumma bear wanted to check out the renovated library in Brinsmead and hit a couple of op shops, so we set off. I hired out The Chasers season 1, two Xavier Rudd cds, Paramore's "The Final Riot", Angus and Julia Stone's "A Book Like This", a book about knitting with natural wools, and a tonne of cooking books. I'd really like to be that friend who is always cooking and never lets her friends get hungry. I think that's the sort of person I'd like to be. But yes, soon I will be the culinary master of sushimi, soy, salads, smoothies and soups! And I'll throw a dinner party and invite some lovely people around.

We went to St. Vinnies after that, and I found THE most awesome chopping board ever. It should make me sad that I've started my collecting of household items so soon, but I couldn't care less with this addition:

I feel like I'm growing up too quickly. I'm dead set keen to move out next year and rent a house and pay for my own food, do my own washing and pay bills. I'm all set to start working full time to make enough money to put myself through university and rent a place in Brisbane. I can't wait to start university and start learning skills that will provide me for the rest of my life. All of this I'm absolutely ready to do, but it was only 4 months ago that I realized I wanted to work in the film industry. It was only 2 years ago that I actually decided on even going to university. It was only 4 years ago that I was in my first year of high school. I still feel like a child, yet next year I no longer attend high school and it's the beginning of my adult life. I'm so fucking scared that sometimes I want to cry, but then sometimes I'm so god damn excited I want to cry. Is that all I ever feel like doing? Probably. All this talk about university and courses and renting a place next year with friends and gap year and saving money and all that 'adult stuff' is suddenly on my shoulders, and I'm freaked out.

I'm sure though, so long as I know where I want to go and work hard enough for it, it'll all work out.

I have too much spare time to think, and freak out about the things I think about.

God damn adulthood.

Chantelle's new house!

Today, aside from filming only 4 shots of my short film I still haven't finished coz this kid didn't turn up, I went to visit Chantelle in her new house! It's very small but very cute, and her tv is massive, it's probably 1m high and 1.5m wide. She showed me EVERY SINGLE object in her kitchen; her 2 sandwhich makers (which both do exactly the same thing "but what if I want a round sandwhich, and what if I want a flat one?" hahah!), her Asian style plates and bowls and placemats and drink coasters, her cutting board, her drinks shelf, her fridge contents, etc. It was so cute though coz she was so excited hahah! Travis just sat on the couch playing PS3 and Xbox the whole time hahah. but I can't wait till I move out, I'm going to be exactly the same, all excited about plates and cutting boards and stuff.. but yeah, then I held her snake Sunshine, and it was slithering all over me, wrapped its tail around my necklace, tried to climb into my bag and did that cool attack poise thing where it's all like this:

we watched this strange movie called Minghags, it's got Bam and The Dudesons in it, but I was falling asleep by the end of it coz I'd had about 5 hrs sleep since Friday. Then I got home and was locked out for 2 hrs coz my brother keeps the spare key in his school bag now, and my entire family was out fishing. FML.

ANYWAY Merlin is on in exactly 20 minutes! last week of school, so glad. me and Laura wanna have a goonfaced Scrabble fest, should be good fun :D

But this month has been too much. Too much has happened and I really feel like giving up. So many times I've been completely deserted by people who I thought were my best friends, so one would think I'd have grown some sort of immunity to that kind of pain, but I guess not. People just don't seem to stick around for long.

It truly does suck, because so many nice things are happening as well, but they're all instantly blackened by my negatives, and I can't seem to look at anything with optimistic eyes. I wish I could just disappear, vanish into thin air, and forget everything that has happened.

But I can't, and people still bitch about me, and people still fake friendships to me, and people still let me down, and people still ignore me, and I still feel like god damn killing myself sometimes but then I realise how stupid that is, and instead wish I could move away down south and never have to see anyone I've known ever again. Even the people who mean so much to me don't seem to shine through to me when I feel like this, and I hate myself for that because I know they care. I hope they care.

Nothing in my life gives me optimism or enthusiasm right now. It seems that when I'm feeling my lowest, that's when people feel like turning it up and letting loose. I fucking hate you worthless people. I fucking hate that I rant like this, and I fucking hate how I can seem to find some sort of equilibrium in my life.

I fucking hate high school, it leaves me crying all the time.

I've been wanting to make resin necklaces for ages! That's actually how I found my job; I was looking for a place in Cairns that sells resin and I came across Cairns Craft Center, and though "you know, it wouldn't hurt to apply" :) but anyway, seeing as I work there and get a 20% discount, I bought some resin yesterday and JUST finished painting it onto two to-be-pendents. Here are the photos I used.

I always knew that my parents met in a pub, and I thought that was as bogan as it got.

But I never knew the whole story, so I asked, and instantly regretted it. Coz it made me feel like the daughter of a moron.

So my mum was in this pub called The Big O with a couple of her friends, right? And my dad comes up to her and asks her to dance. Mum says 'yes', but while dad was asking her, someone moved the bar stool behind him, so when he turned around to walk to the dance floor, he tripped over it.

In short, my parents met in a pub, and my dad fell over a bar stool.

What a lovely gorgeous story to tell my children.

Every time you get into a car, onto a bus, onto a train, etc., you are essentially trusting that person with your life. They could be a complete stranger to you, yet you're putting your entire life into their hands. Even more so, when you board a plane. You'll probably never lay eyes on the person who you're willing to trust with your life.

So think about that next time someone asks you if there's anyone you'd trust with your life. Because you probably trust a few people everyday with that responsibility.

I had work at 9, and I still love my job. I love who I work with, and I even love it when I fuck something up, because I know I'll get it right next time. Adrian found out that he won the People's Choice award in the Port Douglas Carnivale art competition, Naomi told us about her crazy boyfriend and his night out, and Noni is just so damn helpful that I don't know how I'd be able to get on without her being there. My job is still #1.

After work my gorgeous mother picked me up, and we drove to Centrals via Saint Augustines. You see, as a part of my photography assignment, I'm documenting SHOEFITI (google it) and I happened to notice a pair of lime green and sky blue shoes hanging from the powerline opposite the school, and on Friday, while on the bus home, me and Robert saw Ergon Energy workers with a huge pair of chompers, cutting off this other pair of shoes from the powerlines at Barlow Park, so I took a polaroid of it.

NOW, either they didn't manage to get them, or someone threw a new pair back over the same powerline, probably to taunt them, but they're back. ANYWAY back to the pair at Saint Augustines, I went there to take a photo and THERE WAS ANOTHER PAIR THERE! 2 pairs hanging next to each other. I don't know if it's coz I really get into things, but I freaked out and almost exploded from excitement and happiness, and it took me about 10minutes to find exactly the right angle to take the photo from.

I can't waste shots, seeing as I'm using my polaroid. Anywhoo, I took a photo and I love it; SHOEFITI polaroids to date: 2.

We went to Centrals and I met up with Laura, and left mum. We ate us some Hungry Jacks, played some Guitar Hero at JB-HIFI and met up with Robert. We stalked around town till we got to Off Ya Tree and met with Ellie! She had just gotten her moustache tattoo on her finger, and since that's pretty much the most insane thing ever, I took a polaroid of it.

We left Ellie (seeing as she was still at work) and promised to meet up with her at Massacre of May later. I then got man tackled by Adrienne, and seeing as she's been on of my best friends for, what.. 7 years, I got Robert to take a polaroid of us.

Robert left, and me and Laura bought Maccas slushies and mixed goon with it, sat by the lagoon and watched tourists. Laura remarked on the amount of Asians around, and in fear of getting bashed for sounding racist, we walked around for a bit, and eventually got on a bus to Laura's house.

We listened to some Pop Goes Punk (I think?) and then went down to Raintree's Bottle-O to see if we could get someone to buy us goon. We ended up meeting this guy called Josh, who was pretty far beyond the state of wasted. He tried to buy us goon, but the people in the Bottle-O knew what was up, told him to leave, and he started abusing them, something like "if you don't give me my fucking goon, I'm gonna give you a fucking piece of my mind, and you'll be sorry you were such fuckwits to me" and obviously they called security, so we had to bolt. We ended up back at his house, and he got his friend, also named Josh, to go back to the Bottle-O for us, and we drank his UDL's in the meantime. After about 5 minutes of Josh #1 telling me and Laura that they weren't going to molest us, the other Josh came back, we paid him for the goon, and sprinted. We caught a taxi from Red Rooster and finally made it to the gig, which had started at 6pm, and the last band was playing.

We paid for our entry, got our mother truckin goon tipped down the drain by the security lady, and didn't end up going inside again- pissed of, PLUS a waste of money. I paid $15 to use their toilet, get my alcohol taken off me, and to get stamped by a stamp that claimed I'd been "entered". Fantastic. Though I got to see Maryanne, meet Angus, hang out with Ellie some more, met some lad called Ash (and stole some note out of his pocket. I think it was their set list), hung out with Lizzie and Aruna, talked to some random called Liam and hugged this little kid called Aiden. I always see him at gigs and he always says hello, so he deserved a hug. We got about 50 group shots of us on Aruna's camera, and one on my polaroid.

We all look really good, I love that photo.

Anyways, the gig ended and people started leaving, so we called a taxi. Ellie, Lizzie, Aruna and some other lad left to go clubbing in town, so me and Laura, and for some reason that Liam guy came with us, caught a taxi to Henry's place in Kanimbla. Our taxi driver had "Don't Trust A Hoe" playing, and we found out that back in Africa (mhmm, he was from Nigeria) he had 6 wives, whadda pimp. Don't know if he was lying, but it was still impressive. Anyway, we hung out at Henry's with James, Will and Artem for about 20 minutes till I decided to go home, so mum came and picked me and Laura up, dropped Laura back at her place, and we went home. God only knows what happened to that Liam guy after that.

Even though I ended up spending near $90 last night, I don't really regret it. I only know now, to plan things well before hand.

I love Laura and Ellie :)

I love meeting randoms.

I love dumb arse philosophical talks with Laura at the bus terminal.

I love the sound a polaroid camera makes when you take a photo.

and I love that people remember me from other gigs.

right now, Cairns is pretty great. this weather does things to people.

so today, every single state school teacher decided to walk off the job, in a protest for higher wages; aka we got the day off school! me and Robert crusaded around town for the day, and took photos for your viewing pleasure :O

"well alright, if you insist". yea, we have a few crazy drunks that live at the bus terminal in town. they leave their bottles everywhere.

we found this really amazing alleyway that must've been painted less than a week ago, it's so freakin' spectacular! I had to take some photos.. and have a little photoshoot :) here's a cute little turtle!

then we proceeded to walk around town, eat onigiri rolls for lunch, see Chantelle in Body Funk, watch Chelsea get her tattoo done, watch us some 'Masterchef Center Court', buy Scrubs Season 3 and a Kimya Dawson cd from JB HI-FI, get hug mauled by Adrienne, drink raspberry slushies, eat some more sushi, and battle the shite out of little punks at Guitar Hero in JB. I epic failed, but it was fun. this little kid kept saying "DO B.Y.O.B, IT'S THE HARDEST SONG EVURR!" and I was laughing while Robert vs'd him, and pwnd his butt. nah, he was a nice kid. oh, and we saw James and Naomi and themz.

I had to work afterwards, and I just re-priced paint. EPIC AWESOME! seriously, I love my job (L).

I hope they have more teacher's strikes soon.

I haven't blogged in a while! Nang! So this has been my week:

Monday. My phone made a noise during assembly (again), I drank 350mLs of V, and Robert pointed at that Jacob-look-a-like and he saw him do it (again). I sometimes want to kill Robert, and he knows that.

Tuesday. I drank 350mLs of V. I re-submitted my art assignment. I got excited about the episode of Criminal Minds that was going to be on the following night, and reminded everyone to watch it. Kayla gave me my moustache back. We had some guy from an advertising agency in Brisbane come talk to us and it was amazing! I pretty much want his job. I worked and it was really great. I love my job.

Wednesday. I got paid $130, so I bought V. Mr. Honeywill showed me the cross processed photos he took of me and Kayla and the dinosaur costume on his lomo action camera on art camp, I love them! Kayla gave me some songs from this really cute singer that I forget the name of.. something about seven swans and Illinois? and sufjan? I'll Google it.. Sufjan Stevens and the Seven Swans - Illinois. It's really nice, I used one of his songs as a backing song for my photography podcast. I tried to eat my apple in radio class and the sub teacher told me to "take that apple outside", which made me want to take her outside. I hate pushy subs. I made Laura cry twice today, once from the bum photo I took in Coles (see previous blog post) and again when I got my 'game face' on. We watched last year's seniors video- ours is going to be better.That Jacob-look-a-like sat next to me at the bus stop. We didn't talk. I'm pretty sure he caught me looking at him (again). Sometimes I wish I could incinerate on the spot and die. I taped Criminal Minds and watched the start of it, and Rathbone is one sexy woman ;D

(by the way, that dress makes me look uber fat there. needless to say, I don't really like that photo)

Thursday. Woke up early to watch some Criminal Minds, but I only managed to fit in 10 minutes. School sucked. I had work, which was nice. I listened to Adrian bitch about annoying customers while I re-priced paint tubes. Dad took me to Centrals and I did the shopping and bought Polaroid film, which cost me $40 for 10 photos. Do the math, that's $4 a photo. For special occasions only.

Friday. School mostly sucked. I saw James pulling breakdancing moves to himself in the mirror at lunchtime and laughed to myself. Me and Dani nibbed the Dymo label maker in art and made nametags for people. Mine said "Kelly J. Mc.Awesome" and Dani's said "Banana Hammock". We made one for Mr. Honeywill that said "Bald Eagle" (he has no hair at the moment, he shaved it for art camp), and one for Mr. Weston that said "Little Miss Grumpy" and stuck them to their desks. I wish I took photos. I talked to Jackson on the bus about pink scooters, why he punched up Andrew last year, and the ugly Cairns High guy that catches our bus, that neither of us ever want to sit next to again. He's disgusting, that lad is. Went out to Smithfield and bought a 14mm stretcher and 10 Things I Hate About You. It made me feel a little bit sad coz the story is so cute and I wish something like that happened to me. Plus, the 90's was cool, and I miss them dearly. Plus, Heath Ledger is hot. Don't deny it, he's gorgeous in that movie.

Now. I'm dying my hair BACK to red (not orange, red) and I'm about to find some photos to accompany this blog. People seem to ignore blog posts that don't have photos. People are lame sometimes.

The Adventures of the Veloca-Kayla!

As part of my school photography assignment, I made a dinosaur costume out of cardboard boxes and got my wonderful friend Kayla to wear it in various places. On Thursday night we went to our town's largest shopping center, Cairns Central, and took some photos. We got a lot of stares, points and 'what the..' faces. But what made us happiest was that we got a lot of smiles, giggles and waves. Little kids were our biggest fans. It made me feel so fantastic knowing that WE were the reason why people were smiling and happy, and laughing. I can't explain the feeling, but it's really nice. So I made Kayla walk around a lot, and we thought it'd be funny to order a 50c soft serve cone from McDonalds! that poor guy that served Kayla hahah:

hahahah this photo reminds me of that scene in Eurotrip near the end with the guards and Scotty, and Cooper is eating the ice-cream. "have a very special day, for a very special little man.".

Well then we went into Coles for a bit, and we took some photos in the fruit and veg section, then we went to the meat section. I was taking some photos of Kayla holding up packages of meat, and I felt kind of bad for getting in people's way but they didn't seem to mind. ESPECIALLY THIS GUY! Alright, I was so focused on taking the photos that I didn't even see this happen, and didn't even know I had this photo until about an hour ago when I started editing them, but check this out:

Undara Art Camp '09!

yes, the school art camp this year went up to the Undara Lava Tubes! we left on Thursday morning and got back yesterday afternoon, and it was so much fun, and I did so many things I would NEVER have even imagined I'd ever do. I'm so glad I went.

we left Cairns at a bright an early time of around 8am. turns out that Mr. Honeywill shaves his hair a different way each year as his boarding pass (we had to make a boarding pass to get on the bus, to show that we'd started our artistic journey) but this time his shaver had cut out half way and he had huge tufts of shaven bits and.. goodness it was terrible. I don't have a photo, but I have video of it which I'll be uploading soon enough. but yes, we left Cairns at around 8am:

Marisa felt a bit sick on the bus and we had to stop on the Gillies to let her out. we watched Spirited Away on the tv on the bus; I hadn't seen that in ages, and eventually made our first stop at Ravenshoe (pronounced 'Ravens-hoe'). We stopped at the wind farm first! the huge wind towers spin in the wind and generate enough electricity to power all the homes in the area, which is good, seeing as Ravenshoe is the highest town in Queensland and they're using their wind resources quite well. Kayla got out to take a photo:

Then we stopped in the town itself so people could grab something to eat. I was waiting for Marisa to get out of the public toilets, when an old dirty man walked past me, brushing his teeth. He spat out his water onto the footpath, continued down the walkway until he got to the bin, and threw in his toothbrush. I thought THAT was a little fucked up, until he reached his hand into the bin, pulled out a straw, started chewing on it and continued down the path. The Ravenshoe locals are a little.. well.. not all there I'd say. We then got assigned to send postcards back to people at school. I chose to write one to Laura, and got told to write one to my ftv teacher Mr. Weston:

when we got back on the bus, Kayla showed me something she'd picked up, which she thought was a strange piece of twisted bark. I informed her that it was actually a piece of dried up poo, and she cried "EUGH!" and threw it. it landed on Henry. poor Henry hahahah!

our next stop was a quick 5 minute one at Innot Hot Springs. the thermal volcanic energy underground warms the earth in certain spots (some bits are warmer than others, and the water is boiling hot rather than just warm), and you can go for a dip in the creek that runs through the town, and it feels like bathwater! Mrs. Williams didn't believe the water was going to be HOT hot, so she stuck her whole foot in and burnt it! she walked off her pain:

our last stop was at Mount Garnet, and we stopped there for a bit and continued making our postcards:

we finally made it to Undara! after we'd eaten some food'zies, put away our bags into our tents, applied the sunscreen and got ourselves into 'art mode', we all ventured up to a mountain peak called The Bluff to do some landscape painting with oil paints. we got to eat dinner in some old renovated train carriages! Tasia liked my Sunday school hat, so she wore it throughout dinner. she looks very.. proper hahah:

that night we did some painting with light. my photography teacher Mr. Honeywill joined our troupe, and I love the results; these are all COMPLETELY unedited:

got back to our tent/cabin, and I was so dead tired! Kayla thought it'd be lovely to get a photo of me from her top bunk. aren't I such a gorgeous thing before sleepy time? thanks Kayla:

the next day we woke up 6:30, and had breakfast at 7. we ate breakfast down at the campfire, which is about a 5 minute walk into the bush from the campsite. hot breakfast; toast, baked beans, egg, bacon, sausage and cooked tomato. me and Kayla posed in the morning sun:

then we split into 2 groups for the day activities. we were in group 2, so we stayed behind at the camp and worked on creating an installation art piece. our group made big ants out of grass:

but we ended up hanging the grass balls from a log, and only keeping 2 of the ants we made:

and we found a VERY WEIRD little bug that looked like a miniature kiwi bird! we don't know if anyone has ever seen one before; I've never seen this in a book/the Undara souvenir and information shop before:

then we went back to the lodge and ate lunch. the groups then swapped activities and it was OUR turn to go on the lava tubes tour. I'd already done it before so I was already expecting a lot of what happened, EXCEPT FOR THIS:

THAT'S RIGHT! the cave was flooded out from all the rain we've had recently. not only was I not expecting that, but I also didn't expect we'd be allowed to swim in it. only a brave few ventured forth into the darkness, since we'd forgotten our torches, and we only had the handrail to go by. so me, Kayla, Sarah and Mr. Honeywill went out into the water, and it was so lovely and cold:

that afternoon we had 4hrs of free art time. I sat with Kayla and Junie on the footpath down from the lodge; Junie is one super cutie face:

then we shot the photos with the dinosaur costume I made. our photography assignment at the moment is to pay a sort of homage to an artist we admire and I chose Michel Gondry and how he uses low-grade materials to create things in his projects. Kayla was my model, and the final results will be uploaded later (when I've finished editing them). so we walked up to The Bluff in the afternoon to shoot, and Mr. Honeywill tagged along. I'll have to remember to grab a copy of the photos he took of us with his lomo camera. us journey'ing up there (from Kayla's point of view):

Kayla wanted a Polaroid of her and me taken, so Honeywill took a photo but it didn't work, so he took another one and the photo came out WEIRD! Kayla had three arms, I think the first photo developed over the top of the second one:

that night we made our souvenirs for our mystery recipient. Mrs. Williams thought that instead of buying a gift from Undara each, we'd make our own and give it to someone else in the camp. I got Marisa of all people, and made her a pair of novelty glasses with paper, see through plastic, Undara dirt and grass and a gum nut, and had "Undara Art Camp '09" written on them. they were only supposed to be ornamental, but being the dag she is, she wore them all the time. I got a gift from Samantha, and she made me this cute as barrette with buttons glued on, and a bracelet. during craft time, Mr. Honeywill decided to shave off the rest of his hair AND THE SAHVER CUT OUT AGAIN! he was left with an even more horrible mullet, and afterwards Kayla ran off and stole his shaven hair, and made moustaches out of it! truely disgusting, but truely hilarious! me, Kayla and Jordy then retreated to our tent and had a little 10 minute gathering:

some people left, but me, Kayla, Jordy, Danelle and Bec all stayed. it was moustache time! we put them on and made a video diary (which I'll also be uploading soon enough). I think we made a very fine bunch of sexy as Mexicans, though I sort of look like a pedophile:

time to go home. we got up early, ate breakfast, packed up our things and sneaked in a couple of tent group photos:

after lunch we went on this HORRID walk up to the edge of a volcanic crater, which I forget the name of. we sat on a nice bench up there in the sun and did some sketches. well I did, Kalya took this sneaky photo of me. note my lovely posture:

Every night before bed, my brother sets his clothes out on the bench top in the bathroom. One night, I decided to hide them and leave him some notes to follow; A TREASURE HUNT!

Needless to say, he wakes at 6:20am, is usually grumpy in the morning, got mad at me and stayed mad for the rest of the morning. Oh well, it amused me :)

I HAVE A JOB!! admit it, we all thought it would never happen :P

so now I'm a casual at the Cairns Craft Center, earning between $16 and $18 p/hour, working 2 or 3 times a week. who's jealous :D

my boss is heaps cool as well! he's about late 60's and we were talking and he said "I'm getting a bit old to be doing so much crap around this shop. I already hire too many people but, well.. you show some promise. I've effed up before but I think you're going to be another Nomi."

Nomi is their best worker, I felt pretty happy about that :)

but yea, once I get some money into me, I'll probably be shouting everyone everything, so try not to use me too much hahah >_____<

atleast I can go to see movies in the cinema now :D

I met my all time favourite artist in the entire world (no, not Michel Gondry; he's a film-maker). Her name is Kristin Tennyson, she makes the Doodlebags at KickARTS, and she's coming on art camp with us on Thursday :D

Drving lessons with dad have been going pretty well. I can change gears pretty okay, and can actually stop and start the car without stalling. Hopefully I'll be out on the roads soon!

If anyone in the world thinks they have a better art teacher than me, I DARE YOU to challenge me! my wonderful teacher Mrs. Williams arrived home from New York about a week ago, and today in art class I was working on my cardboard dinosaur costume (I will post a blog about this project of mine later) and she came up and got all excited, as she does, and said it reminded her of the festy rabbit in New York. naturally, I was intrigued. This is The Festy Rabbit Story (as best I can remember):

Mrs. Williams and her friend wanted to check out an art gallery in the meat packing district of New York on Easter Monday and seeing as everything else seemed to be open that day, they caught a yellow taxi out there, only to realise (after walking around for a bit) that everything was shut up and closed for the day. They then passed an alleyway, and she saw a man pacing up and down the pavement, wearing a rabbit suit and a sandwich board. The front of the board said something along the lines of "CAN YOU DEFINE 'ART'?" and when he turned around, they saw that the back said (something along the lines of) "Unemployed artist needs work". They walked closer to take a photo, but feeling rude they decided to ask his permission first. They walked up to him and saw that his rabbit suit was pretty filthy, the rabbit ears were drooped and pretty depressing, and the parts where the suit had been rubbing against the sign was all balled and worn away; it was a pretty festy rabbit, something like Frank off Donnie Darko. Mrs. Williams asked him if he minded if she took a photo of him, and even though his eyes were slightly obscured by the fly mesh of the mask's eye pieces, she could see that he had narrowed his eyes at her in a pretty hateful way. It's New York; she thought they were going to get stabbed, so they took off back the way they're come from, but at the last minute she turned around and snapped a quick photo of The Festy Rabbit.

After she told me this story, she stuck on the headpiece of my dinosaur costume and asked me if I thought the class would take her more seriously if she wore it when she was talking to us. I laughed (she looked pretty hilarious, maybe I'll take a photo) and answered "no."

seriously, she's so great! she tells you exactly what she's doing and whether it'll hurt much or not, and stops as soon as I flinch. AND we were talking about Twilight today; turns out she thinks Edward is as weird and creepy as I do :) and she remembers that I told her last time I said I wanted to do film when I finish school. and a day after my first visit, when I was in the paper, they recognized me! seriously, you can't get a better dentist :) today when I was getting my filling in, I ended up with saliva all around my mouth and she's like "it's okay that happens to everyone. everyone loses their dignity once they're at the dentist" hahahahah :D 'cept now my face is numb again; fail.

so there's this lovely boy that sits at my bus stop at school, and I think I like him a little bit. ever since I first saw him, and I don't even know why, but he reminded me of Jacob Black (not Taylor Lautner, Jacob Black) even though he doesn't look anything like him. his hair is like butterscotch and caramel mixed together, and his skin is this gorgeous honey colour, but his cheeks are always a little bit pink. despite this, I don't actually know how old he is and I'm fearing he MIGHT actually be the same age as my brother :| though he doesn't look it at all, he sits with some old friend's of Luke's when he used to go to my school. and.. I don't know his name, seeing as I've never spoken to him.

I guess I'm just going to have to keep admiring him from a distance, even if I DO feel slightly pedophile-ish and stalker-ish.

mum and Luke are in the backyard planting the seedlings we bought the other day, and Luke has this knife and was wilding bashing the weeds, and mum comes over and looks at him- completely horrified. he stops trashing the weeds and stares at mum.

mum: ARUGH! don't do that!!!
Luke: I'm being careful..
mum: no! that's my good bloody kitchen knife! go get the friggin' machete if you're going to do that!

ahh mum, you really care more about our safety than your knifes, don't you :)

7:00am: woke up, had a shower, scoffed down breakfast and watched Smosh's 'Sex Ed' video with my brother.

8:30am: got in the car and drove to Lane Orathadontics. Luke was getting his braces off today, so we dropped him off and went to Stocklands for a bit.
9:15am: bought a plain grey tee (for my tshirt transfer) and Twilight from Big W!

now all I need is Eclipse, and I have the entire saga (L).
9:30am sat down and had a chai latte with mum at The Coffee Club.
10:00am: picked up Luke.
Luke: "without braces I look like a yeti. I had this dream once, and my mouth looks exactly like the monster in my dream.." hahah :P
10:10am: got back in the car and went over to Bunnings to pick up some potting mix, seedlings and some timber stainer for my new student desk for my room! I wanted to buy flowers but I didn't have any money..

but Luke found a hat he really liked;

11:30am: went over to Bazaar furniture coz mum wants to buy a sideboard with the $900 that we're getting from the government. if you don't know what a sideboard is, it's basically just a long table that you have in your dining room, and you put linen and tablecloths and placemats and casserol dishes and all that in it. I found a really awesome chair, but it didn't have a price tag on it :( I thought it'd be really great to have 6 of these, and use them as dining room chairs! what do you think;

12:30pm: we went over to Harvey Normans and while mum had a look for sideboards, me and Luke tested out couches. then we found the massage chairs! one was so rough, it felt like a hobbit was hidden inside and was bashing the crap out of my back. it was pretty brutal hahah so we got mum to have a go;

she didn't like it much either :D hahah!
1:15pm: started heading home, and got Maccas. the wall behind our booth was starting to trip me out after a while!

1:45pm: got home.

now I'm just sitting here, working on my tshirt design, and Myspacing a little.

I've taken to creating fan wallpapers of Twilight.
